
ST. CATHARINES, ON - The Brock University baseball team split their season series against the Western Mustangs Wednesday night at George Taylor Field. The Badgers won Game One by the score of 4-2 and dropped Game Two 6-1.
In Game One, starter
Chase Porter (Whitby, ON) went the distance for the victory. He allowed two runs (one earned) on seven hits while striking out five over seven strong innings.
Picking up the loss was former Badger
Ryan Beckett who went six innings for the Mustangs allowing four runs on five hits whlle striking out 10 and walking five.
Blake Stepien (Guelph, ON) (2-for-3, RBI) and
Tyler Nakamura (Concord, ON) (2-for-4, RBI) led the Badgers offense adding two hits each.Â
In Game Two, Western starter Dustin Godden kept the Badgers offense offguard throwing 6 1/13 innings allowing one run on six hits while striking out six for the win.
Brock starter
Derek Zwolinski (Burlington, ON) went five innings allowing six runs on five hits while striking out four and walking four in the loss.
Josh Wray (Burnaby, BC) went 2-for-3 with single hits going to
Justin Gideon (Pickering, ON),
Noah Koffman (Richmond Hill, ON),
Spencer Gorick (Harrow, ON) and
Matthew Legg (Vancouver, BC).
The Badgers will now play six games over three days beginning Friday against the first place Laurier Golden Hawks on the road.
