
HAMILTON, ON - The Brock University baseball team ended the OUA regular season with a sweep over the McMaster Marauders at Bernie Arbour Stadium Sunday afternoon. The Badgers won Game One by the score of 3-0 and Game Two 11-4.
In Game One,
Chase Porter (Whitby, ON) picked up the victory after throwing five innings of shutout ball while allowing just one hit and striking out six.
Ryan Bench (Pelham, ON) allowed just on hit over three innings of work while
Jake Near (Stratford, ON) picked up the save throwing one shutout inning.
Tyler Nakamura (Concord, ON) went 2-for-4 with an RBI double and stolen base.
Noah Koffman (Richmond Hill, ON) was 1-for-3 with a triple and RBI while
Justin Gideon (Pickering, ON),
Jaiden Hill (Whitby, ON) both added singles in the win.
In Game Two, Rookie
Ben Matheson (Calgary, AB) belted a two run homerun which cleared the fence by 35 feet and added a double and four RBI to lead the way. Nakamura went 3-for-5 while
Josh Wray (Burnaby, BC) 2-for-2,
Spencer Gorick (Harrow, ON) 2-for-4 and
Cody Malone (Innisfil, ON) 2-for-4 all added two hits each. Â Â
On the hill, rookie southpaw
Nick Subramaniam (Mississauga, ON) was dominant striking out five while adding four assists and a putout over four innings of work for the win.
The Badgers finish the regular season in third place with a 14-4 record. They will open the OUA Championships next weekend against the six place team TBD.Â
