ST. CATHARINES, ON - The Brock University men's hockey team defeated the No.6 ranked Concordia Stingers by the score of 6-3 Friday night at the Seymour Hannah Centre.
With the win, the Badgers extend their win streak to six games.
The Badgers opened the scoring three minutes into the first period, as
Matt MacLeod (Niagara Falls, ON) and
Chris Maniccia (St. Catharines, ON) set up
Andrew Radjenovic (Hamilton, ON) for his fifth goal of the season.Â
Concordia answered with three goals in the second period. including power-play markers from Anthony DeLuca and Olivier Hinse as well as a shorthanded goal from Charles Guevremont.Â
Just over four minutes into the final period, Radjenovic and
Skylar Pacheco (Kitimat, BC) set up
Mitch Nardi (Hamilton, ON) for the powerplay marker, cutting the lead to one.
Just two minutes later, Nardi would even the game at 3-3 with
Adam Lloyd (Orleans, ON) and
Patrick Volpe (Burlington, ON) adding the assists. Brock would take a 4-3 lead 6:50 into the third, as Nardi and Maniccia set up setup Lloyd for his team-leading 7th goal of the season .Â
With just under four minutes left in the game, Nardi added an insurance marker for his third goal of the night. Radjenovic collected an empty netter to round out the scoring.
In goal, Brock rookie starter
Adam Beukeboom (Sundre, AB) registered 42 saves for the victory. Concordia's Philippe Cadorette collected 29 saves in the loss.
The Badgers host the UQTR Patriotes Saturday afternoon 3:15pm at the Seymour-Hannah Centre.
