
TORONTO, ON - The Brock University baseball team (4-2 OUA) continued their season on the road against the Toronto Varsity Blues Sunday. The Badgers lost Game One 6-2 and won Game Two by the score of 5-4.
In Game One, the first three innings were close with Toronto only scoring one run. The Varsity Blues added another three runs in the fourth inning to go up 4-0.
The Badgers would answer back with a run of their own by making it 4-1.
The score would remain the same until the eighth inning with Toronto scoring two more runs to go ahead 6-1.Â
Brock's
Tyler Nakamura (Concord, ON) hit a single to bring home
Nathan Laird (Kitchener, ON) to score the Badgers only other run.
Brock starter
Chase Porter (Whitby, ON) pitched four innings with five strikeouts allowing four runs.
Ryan Bench (Pelham, ON) would finish the game getting two strikeouts and allowing two runs.
In Game Two, the Badgers got on the board quick. Nakamura hit an RBI single to bring in Dennon Kozial (Hamilton, ON).
Cody Malone also hit an RBI single to bring in
Blake Stepien (Guelph, ON). After the first inning the Badgers were up 3-0.
The Blues scored the next three runs, to tie the game 3-3 until Nakamura would add another RBI single to retake the lead for the Badgers to make it 4-3 after five innings.
The Badgers added an insurance run with
Michael Enns Ward scoring a run off of a Blues error.
Brock starterÂ
Alex Nolan (Burlington, ON) who pitched six innings with one strikeout and allowing four runs in the win.
Nick Subramaniam (Mississauga, ON) and
Jake Near (Stratford, ON) came in for the final three outs to finish the game.
The Badgers play next Saturday September 24th against the York Lions at George Taylor Field. Game times are 12pm and 3:30pm.
