
ST. CATHARINES, ON - The Brock University baseball team (8-2 OUA) captured two wins over the Guelph Gryphons Sunday afternoon at George Taylor Field. The Badgers were victorious in Game One winning 12-2 and won Game Two by the score of 7-4.
Brock started the first game strong adding two runs in the first inning.

In the bottom of the fourth, Brock tacked on five more runs to go up 7-0. The fourth inning was highlighted by a two-run blast over the right field fence by captain
Justin Gideon (Pickering, ON), his first of the season.
Guelph collected two runs in the top of the fifth, but it was Brock adding five more runs in the final two innings for the 10-run mercy.
Tyler Nakamura (Concord, ON) went 3-for-3 with four runs scored while
Jaiden Hill (Whitby, ON) went 2-for-5 with two RBI. Gideon drove in three runs going 1-for-3 while
Blake Stepien (Guelph, ON) and
Josh Wray (Burnaby, BC) both collected one hit each with two RBI.

Chase Porter (Whitby, ON) pitched six strong innings allowing two runs on four hits while striking out five. Southpaw reliever
Ryan Bench (Pelham, ON) threw one shutout inning to close out the game.
In Game Two, Guelph took a 2-0 lead in the top of the first. The Badgers answered with a two run single fromÂ
Matthew Legg (Vancouver,BC) and two-run double from Gideon to go up 4-2 after one complete. Both teams exchanged runs in the second and third innings with Brock holding onto a 6-4 lead.
Dennon Koziol (Hamilton, ON) (2-for-2), Gideon (2-for-4, 2 RBI) Legg (2-for-4, 3 RBI) and
Noah Koffman (Richmond Hill, ON) (2-for-3) all chipped in with two hits each in the victory.
In a no decision, Brock starter
Adrian Yuen *(Ottawa, ON) went 3 1/3 innings allowing four runs on three hits while striking out one. In relief, rookie
Nick Subramaniam (Mississauga, ON) pitched 3 2/3 innings allowing no runs on one hit while striking out five.
The Badgers are up against the McMaster Marauders next Saturday and the Western Mustangs next Sunday at George Taylor Field at 12pm and 3:30pm.
