Brock University soccer program had three individuals recognized by the OUA as the Major Awards and League All-Stars were announced.
Second year Brock men`s soccer head coach Lucio Ianiero was named the 2017 OUA West Coach of the Year.
Despite a lengthy resume in the sport, which includes playing – having spent time with the Hamilton Steelers in the original Canadian Soccer League, as well as stints in the American Professional Soccer League – and coaching – being named the Canadian Professional Soccer League Coach of the Year in 2000 – his stint with the Badgers has been brief.
It didn't take him long to make an impact; however, as he led the Brock squad to their first playoff appearance since 2011 and secured a record of 6-8-2 for his Alma matter in the process.
Brock senior defender Eric Bradey earned an OUA West First Team All-Star after leading the Badgers to the postseason in 2017. Throughout his career, the 2016-17 Brock Male Athlete of the Year and two-sport athlete has been one of the top defenders in the OUA West division earning three all-star selections in his career.
Brock women`s goalkeeper Marilena Spagnolo had an outstanding sophomore and was named an OUA West Second Team All-Star. In 2017, Spagnolo played in every minute for the Badgers and ranked first in the OUA in games played (16), games started (16) and Minutes (1441:00). She was also 4th in shutouts (8), 5th in saves (84) and wins (5), 8th in save percentage (.848) and 9th in GAA (0.94).
