The No. 2 ranked Brock University men's basketball team topped the Guelph Gryphons by the score of 93-80 Wednesday night in front of a capacity crowd inside the Bob Davis Gymnasium.
Brock opened the game with a 16-4 run and led 22-16 after one quarter. Early in the second quarter, Guelph brought it to within three points 24-21, before Brock answered with a 12-6 run, to take a 36-27 lead at the half.
Guelph would bring the score to within six points three more times, but that would be as close as they would come as Brock extended their win streak to six games.
The Badgers had four players in double digits led by
Tyler Brown who finished with a game-high 19 points seven assists and three rebounds.
Dani Elgadi collected the double-double adding 16 points and 11 rebounds while
Cassidy Ryan and
Noah Lapierre chipped in with 14 and 10 points respectively.
For the game, Brock shot 47.8% (33-69) from the field 33.3% (7-21) from three-point land and a season-high 95.2% (20-21) from the charity stripe. Guelph went 25-68 (36.8%) from the floor, 6-11 (54.5%) from long range and 24-34 (70.6%) from the free throw line. Â
Guelph's offense was led by Banky Alade who recorded 18 points. Also in double figures were Taylor Boers (14), Tommy Yanchus (13) and Rasheed Weekes (10).
The Badgers return to action Saturday January 27th when they host the Waterloo Warriors at 8pm at the Bob Davis Gymnasium.
