The Brock Badgers baseball team completed their regular season with a split versus Queen's during a doubleheader at George Taylor Field on Saturday.
The series was a makeup for their original Oct. 6 meeting.
Brock won the first game 12-6 and lost the second 9-5. Now, the Badgers prepare for the opening round of the OUA playoffs in Ajax on Friday. The opponent and time have yet to be determined.
In Game 1, senior starting pitcher Chase Porter was electric on the mound, allowing just one hit over three innings while striking out three. The Badgers' bullpen combined to close the game out with six strong innings to preserve the victory.
The second match tested the Badgers early, as the Golden Gaels wasted no time in applying pressure on offence. The Gaels managed to score eight runs in the first three innings of play, which proved to be enough to hold off the Badgers for a 9-5 win.
The weekend featured a number of stellar performances at the plate as senior shortstop Noah Koffman posted an outstanding weekend, going six-for-nine with two doubles, a triple, a home run and four RBI on the day. Second baseman Will Da Costa also went three-for-six on the day, and catcher Matt Casburn looked strong with a two-for-three effort.
