Weekend Preview (Nov. 15-17)

Badgers host hoops series with Thunderwolves

Daniel Cayer, who leads the OUA in rebounding with an average of 12 boards per game, and the Brock men's basketball team host the No. 8 Lakehead Thunderwolves in back-to-back games at Bob Davis Gymnasium on Friday and Saturday.

The Brock Badgers (3-2) face off against the OUA Central division-leading Lakehead Thunderwolves (5-1) in back-to-back men's basketball action at Bob Davis Gymnasium this weekend.

The Badgers host the Thunderwolves on Friday, Nov. 15 and Saturday, Nov. 16. Both games tip off at 8 p.m.

Lakehead, who was previously unranked, was named the No. 8 in the country on Tuesday, according to the U SPORTS weekly Top 10.

"We're a team that's trying to work hard, rebound and defend at a high level," said Lakehead coach Ryan Thomson. "Offensively, we try to play fast and take a high percentage of our shots at the rim, or behind the three."

The Thunderwolves play at a breakneck pace and currently lead the OUA in attempted field goals for and against, but will be forced to outwork the Badgers in the paint.

"Brock is a talented team as usual. Coach has the guys playing hard and rebounding and executing at a high level," said Thomson. "Playing at Brock is always a fun environment and we're looking forward to it."

Brock head coach Willy Manigat has guided the Badgers to one of the top rebounding teams in the province at No. 3.

"As always our focus right now isn't so much about what style Lakehead wants to adopt, but more about us taking care of the things we can control," said Manigat. "If we play our style, which is defending and playing with energy, we will live with the outcome."

The last time these two teams met was in the OUA playoffs when the Badgers knocked the T-Wolves out of the post season last February. Since 2014, Brock is 8-5 versus Lakehead.
