The Brock University ball hockey team won the first Logan Schatz University Ball Hockey Tournament in London, Ontario recently.
The tournament is dedicated to Schatz, who served as the captain of the Humboldt Broncos.
Brock goalie Pat Martin and Brody Haramis were named the tournament MVPs as the Badgers ran undefeated.
It was the Badgers' second tournament victory of the season.
"All lines contributed with ball control in the o-zone and a strong checking game up and down the floor," said head coach Rene Vandenboom.
Brock earned first place and a bye with a pair of victories over Waterloo (2-0) and the London Generals (4-1).
The Badgers overcame the Generals 3-1 in the semifinals.
"Both goalies stood on their heads," said Vandenboom.
Brock trailed London 1-0 into the third period.
"Finally, after the save of the season by Pat on a clear breakaway," said Vandenboom. "Shayne Gibson went the other way on a solo rush and his snapshot from the blue line found the back of their net to knot things up at 1-1 with six minutes left in regulation."
Anthony Loveless scored twice to win the game for Brock.
