The Brock ringette team secured a silver medal at the Dave Bennett University Cup at the provincial championships in Waterloo on March 10.

"I just cannot express how proud I am of every single girl on the team for the way that we played this weekend and how much effort was put into every single game we stepped on the ice for," said captain Allison Page.

Brock lost 5-3 to Guelph in the gold-medal game.

Raegan Hayter, Mahren Young and Brienne Paterson each scored a goal in the final.

"Sure, we obviously all wanted to walk away with the gold medal, but after going undefeated in all seven games leading up to the final on Sunday and having such a close game against them, silver feels just as good, if not better," said Sage. "It was the perfect way to finish my career as a Badger and I cannot thank the girls and the coaching staff enough for making my last year the best one yet."

After the game, Gryphons head coach Elysia Ashton told Sage: "the Brock team was a class act and a great team to play against."

The Badgers topped the standings with a record of 5-0-1 and outscored the opposition 30-9.

Hayter finished third in tournament scoring with nine goals and 16 points, while teammate Jordyn Cousins was fourth with 10 goals and 15 points.

The team is made up of Raegan Hayter, Jordyn Cousins, Ashley Franko, Brienne Paterson, Allie Pepper-Murray, Mahren Young, Allison Sage, Laynee Partridge, Mary Leon, Makayla Campbell, Natalie Reay, Nicole Therrien, Katie McKinnon, Karsen Lewis, Alyssa Godin, Karlee Sutton and Mel Mann.

The coaching staff consists of head coach Glenn Hayter and assistant coaches Emily Sage, Karl Romph and Kayleigh Paterson.
