Brock fencing scores another podium result at Western Invitational

LONDON - Concluding the fall semester in London, the Brock Badgers men's and women's fencing teams competed at the Western Invitational this past weekend.

Picking up the top result of the competition for the Badgers, second-year sabre athlete Isamaris Escano placed third overall in the women's sabre event. The Child Health major earned a critical 15-10 victory over Western's Evenlyn Zheng, before falling to the eventual silver medalist from Western Louise Lewicki. The bronze is the first medal of the season for Escano and the sixth medal overall for Brock fencing through four competitions this fall.

Following a strong semester of fencing action, the Badgers will enjoy the winter break and return in the new year at the Carleton Invitational scheduled for Jan. 14-15. The event will serve as the final tune-up ahead of the OUA Championships which will see both the men's and women's events hosted by Brock University from Feb. 17-19.

Next competition: January 14-15 • Carleton Invitational - Ottawa, ON
