The Brock men's hockey team is hosting the Queen's Cup.

On Wednesday, March 23, the No. 9 Badgers upset the No. 5 Rams 5-2 in the Ontario University Athletics (OUA) semifinal at the Mattamy Athletic Centre in Toronto to secure home ice for the Queen's Cup.
Â
The Badgers welcome UQTR in the Queen's Cup at Seymour-Hannah Arena on Saturday, March 26 at 7:15 p.m.
Â
Brock's victory also clinches a berth to the U SPORTS Men's Hockey Championships in Wolfville, Nova Scotia from March 31 to April 3.
Â
"The guys completely deserved and earned this win and a shot at the Queen's Cup," said head coach Kevin Forrest. "I was impressed with the will and determination of our players tonight. We blocked a lot of shots against a team that knows how to score, which shows how much we wanted this win for each other."
Â
Brock hosted the Queen's Cup during the 2017-18 season but lost to McGill. The Badgers are seeking to hoist the Cup for the first time in program history, and their first provincial title.
Â
Zachary Taylor's power-play marker late in the second would stand as the game-winner. The goal was Taylor's first of the campaign.
Â
Goaltender Mario Peccia made 29 saves for his third consecutive playoff win. Jacob Roach scored twice and added an assist while Jared Marino scored a goal and an assist.
Â
Justin Brack added a goal to extend his point streak to seven points in four games.
Â
"Our team played well, we deserved to win tonight. It was a collective team effort," Peccia said. "We're happy with our performance but we still have one more win on Saturday to focus on to get the Queen's Cup at home."
Â
The Badgers got off to a hot start, outshooting the Rams in the first period 10-5. Marino, the Badgers captain, opened the scoring at 11:05.
Â
The Rams struck back with the man advantage to end the first frame 1-1.
Â
In the second, Roach found the back of the net, yet the Rams tied it up again.
Â
Taylor's game-winner came to fruition with less than two minutes remaining as a shot through traffic found its way through.
Â
Roach converted a sharp saucer pass from Owen Guy to build a lead in the third.
Â
Late in the game, Brock was faced with a penalty kill situation versus a Rams' extra attacker. Brack sealed the deal for Brock with a short-handed goal. Christian DeDonato added the assist.
Â
Johnathon Schaefer, Adam Berg and Christian Girhiny each contributed an assist.
Â
"It was a highly emotional game with a lot of momentum swings, but our guys kept their composure and channelled their intensity in all the right ways," added Forrest.
