LONDON - The Brock Badgers men's baseball team defeated the Western Mustangs 6-2 and 3-2 in a road doubleheader this past Saturday in London.
The series was originally intended to be a home-and-home with both teams returning to St. Catharines on Sunday, however due to inclement weather the second doubleheader was postponed and will be rescheduled for a later date.
GAME 1: Brock 6 Western 2
The Badgers were lifted by the stellar pitching of Dan Howat who delivered seven scoreless innings striking out five Mustangs while conceding just three hits and one walks. Meanwhile, Brock was able to build a 6-0 lead through four innings led by a two RBI double from Badgers athlete of the week
Reid Lunney.
Brandon Underhill and
Tyler Giancos each added two hits in the win.
GAME 2: Brock 3 Western 2
A three run third inning proved to be the difference as the Badgers secured the one-run victory. Starting pitcher
Noah Mitchell gave up only one run in four innings of work, while
Hayden Stam and Will Schmahl appeared in relief. In the batter's box
Ashton Feijo went 2-for-3 driving in two RBI, with Lunney adding the third RBI for the Badgers.
Brock will next face the York Lions at George Taylor Field on Saturday, Oct. 1. First pitch in each of the scheduled games are set for 12 and 3 p.m.
