The Brock Badgers baseball team split their Sunday doubleheader versus the Western Mustangs by scores of 5-3 and 13-6 at George Taylor Field in Merritton on Sunday, Sept. 10.
 
The Badgers improved to 3-1 on the Ontario University Athletics (OUA) season.
 
GAME 1: Western 5, Brock 3
 
The Mustangs took control early with a 3-0 lead by the third inning. The Badgers, however, showed resilience and fought back, scoring 2 runs in the bottom of the fifth inning and another run in the sixth, narrowing the gap to 4-3.
 
Western Mustangs' offence remained persistent, adding an insurance run in the seventh inning to make it 5-3. The game saw solid performances from both teams, with Western Mustangs collecting 10 hits and the Brock Badgers managing 7.
 
Second baseman Ashton Feijo belted a home run while first baseman Cole Carpenter added an RBI.
 
GAME 2: Brock 13, Western 6
 
Western opened the game with two runs in the first inning before the Badgers got on the board with a solo home run courtesy of Ben Grant in the second,
 
The third inning proved to be a turning point as Brock exploded for six runs, taking a commanding 7-2 lead.
 
Feijo smashed his second dinger of the day to kick off Brock's hit parade.
 
Grant finished the game with five RBI while outfielder Flynn Matheson recorded three RBI on two hits. Out of the leadoff spot, right fielder Nolan Phelan plated two RBI in front of shortstop Reid Lunney.
 
On the mound, starting pitcher Evan Marks struck out four batters across four innings. He allowed two runs on four hits.
 
Up next, the Badgers (3-1) travel to Niagara Falls, New York for an exhibition game with Niagara University on Friday, Sept. 15 at 3 p.m. before returning home and hosting the Waterloo Warriors on Saturday, Sept. 23 at George Taylor Field. Game times are noon and 3 p.m.
