Brock squash competes on the road in Kingston

The Brock Badgers men's and women's squash teams took part in their final tune-up on Saturday, Jan. 18 at the Jester's Crossover No. 2 hosted by Queen's University.  

On Saturday, the men's team was swept in its two matches against the Western Mustangs and Ottawa Gee-Gees.  

Brock 0 - Western 7 

In Brock's first matchup of the day, they lost in straight sets to Western, the reigning OUA Men's Championship winners. 

Brock 1 - Ottawa 6 

The Badgers secured a set win over the Gee-Gees before ultimately falling to Ottawa.  

In Brock's first matchup, Aidan Parris picked up an 11-6 set victory before succumbing to opponent Chris Kirollos in the next three sets.  

Finley Armstrong performed strongly against Ibrahim Ghani, besting his opponent in four sets (5-11, 14-12, 16-14,13-11). 

In the sixth matchup of the contest, Colton Eggert went the distance, winning a fourth set by a score of 11-6 before losing the fifth and final set 12-14.  

Setia Joy picked up a third-set win (11-9) but ultimately lost in four sets.  

The Brock women's squash team split their Saturday series against Western and Ottawa. 

Brock 7 - Ottawa 0 

The Badgers comfortably swept the Gee-Gees in their opening match of the event.  

Julie Do (11-1, 11-6, 11-4), Addie Hambly, Rachael Liu, Emma Shea (11-4, 11-2, 11-3) and Danielle Tonna (11-3, 11-3, 11-3) all swept their matchups against Ottawa. 

Liu picked up an outstanding performance against opponent Megan Thompson, winning the three sets by scores of 11-4, 11-1 and 11-1.  

After a close 11-8 first-set win, Hambly went on to comfortably secure the victory, winning 11-2 and 11-5.  

The Gee-Gees defaulted the last two sets, resulting in the 7-0 match win by the Badgers.  

Brock 1 - Western 6

Brock was bested by Western in their final contest of the day. 

Hambly won in four sets (12-10, 10-12, 12-10, 11-7) over opponent Michaela Cacicas as the Badgers' lone matchup win.  

Abby Roberti, Shea and Tonna all won a set each in their matches. 

Next up, the Brock Badgers men's and women's squash teams will host the OUA (Ontario University Athletics) Championships at White Oaks Resort in Niagara-on-the-Lake from Friday, Feb. 7 to Sunday, Feb. 9.
