The Brock Badgers men's curling team are provincial medallists for the second straight season.
At the 2025 Ontario University Athletics (OUA) Men's Curling Championship, the Badgers earned a bronze medal.
The three-day competition from Friday, Feb. 7 to Sunday, Feb. 9 took place at the Galt Country Club in Cambridge which saw the Carleton Ravens reign victorious.
With the bronze medal finish, the Badgers have qualified for the U SPORTS Championships in Lethbridge, AB that takes place from Feb. 24-28.
"After a heartbreaking loss in the semifinal, the team rallied really well in the bronze medal game to book our ticket to nationals," said men's coach Jordan Thin. "It was a true testament to their mental fortitude and hard work all season. We're looking forward to continuing the momentum to nationals in Lethbridge."
Brock's bronze medal-winning team this weekend consisted of skip Owen Henry, vice Victor Pietrangelo, second Graham Dix, lead Patrick Sipura and alternate Daniel Krowchuk.
Sipura earned an OUA First Team All-Star selection as a lead for the second consecutive year.
The matchup with the Waterloo Warriors saw the Badgers score a two-ender in the third to give them an early 3-1 lead. This was followed by a steal in the fourth as they came away with a 5-3 win in seven ends.
Showing resilience, Brock bounced back from a close 8-7 defeat in the extra end to the Laurier Golden Hawks in a hotly contested semifinal matchup. The Golden Hawks earned the steal in the ninth end which capped off three straight frames of scoring for the eventual silver medallists.
A commanding performance in the quarterfinals against the York Lions was capped off by a four-end seventh as they won 7-3.
To start the tournament on Friday, the Badgers earned convincing wins over the Guelph Gryphons 11-7 and the Queen's Gaels 6-3 (7).
In their matchup with the Gryphons, a three-ender in the seventh helped break the 7-7 tie, while scoring in four of the seven ends against the Gaels helped them ride out the victory.
The second day of action started with a tight 6-4 victory over the TMU Bold which required the Badgers to score three points in the eighth end to take the win.
Brock was in command from start to finish in their last pool play contest against the Trent Excalibur, winning 10-4 in seven ends of play.
Up next, the Badgers head to the U SPORTS Championships in Lethbridge, AB from Feb. 24-28.
