Brock finished strong on the weekend.
The Brock Badgers men's squash team competed at the 2025 Ontario University Athletics (OUA) Squash Championships, earning a seventh-place finish.
Taking place at the White Oaks Conference Resort and Spa in Niagara-on-the-Lake, the Badgers were hosts for the tournament between Friday, Feb. 7 and Sunday, Feb. 9.
The Western Mustangs took home gold at the championships, defeating the Waterloo Warriors in the final.
"Both teams put in 100 per cent effort and really played their hearts out," said head coach Matt Easingwood. "So, we are now looking forward to next year. Thanks to White Oaks for hosting."
On Day 1, the Brock Badgers defeated the McMaster Marauders before later falling to the Waterloo Warriors by an identical scoreline, 6-1.
Brock 6 - McMaster 1
Starting off on the right foot, the Badgers secured a comfortable 6-1 win over the Marauders.
Aidan Parris made quick work of opponent Ahmed Sabrah, winning in three sets by scores of 11-4, 11-4, and 11-2.
Parris' teammate Mohryan Baksh also won in straight sets, comfortably winning set one (11-3) and set three (11-4). Set two was closer, but Baksh prevailed, winning it 11-9.
In just 16 minutes of playing time, Kemar Lord took down Ethan Pereira, winning three sets in a row (11-4, 11-2, 11-1).
The other Badgers to help complete the win over the Marauders were Finley Armstrong (13-11, 11-6, 11-6), Luque Lockhart (11-6, 11-8, 11-7) and Maaz Shah (11-3, 6-11, 11-1, 11-5).
Brock 1 - Waterloo 6
In their second match of the day, the Badgers were bested by the Warriors.
Coming out victorious for the Badgers was Shah, who won his matchup in five sets (11-5, 4-11, 6-11, 11-8, 11-8).
Baksh went the distance but ultimately Waterloo's Vivek Kapur come out on top in a close fifth and final set 11-9.
Brock 0 - Western 7
On Day 2, the Badgers were swept by the 41-time reigning OUA champions Mustangs, placing Brock into third in its pool and into the consolation semifinals.
Brock 3 - Ottawa 4
The Badgers were defeated in a close matchup against the Gee-Gees on Saturday afternoon.
Baksh (11-2, 11-9, 11-3), Kemar Lord (11-4, 11-4, 11-8) and Shah (11-7, 11-9, 11-4) all won their matchups over their respective Ottawa opponents.
The loss placed the Badgers in the seventh-place match against the McMaster Marauders.
Brock 6 - McMaster 1
The Badgers ended the championship on a high note, besting the Marauders by a score of 6-1.
Baksh (11-5, 11-5, 11-4), Lord (11-6, 11-1, 11-2), Parris (11-7, 11-9, 11-9) and Shah (11-9, 11-6, 11-3) all won in straight sets against their McMaster opponents.
Finley Armstrong (9-11, 11-7, 5-11, 11-6, 11-8) and Luque Lockhart (7-11, 11-6, 11-8, 11-6) rounded out the Badgers who earned match wins over the Marauders.
