Members of the Brock Badgers rowing program made waves south of the border.
The Jefferson Dad Vail Regatta, the largest collegiate rowing event in the United States, took place Saturday, May 10 and Sunday, May 11 at Cooper River Park in Pennsauken, N.J.
This year's event marked the 86th anniversary of the Dad Veil Regatta, which featured over 100 colleges and universities across Canada and the U.S.
Three Canadian teams who appeared at the event in 2025 including members of the men's and women's rowing teams who competed for the Brock Rowing Club.
Leading the results for the Brock athletes was the varsity men's lightweight four consisting of Sawyer Dalton, Christian Moise, Arden White, Ethan Mason and coxswain Alyssa Gray, who earned a silver medal.
"In training for this race, we made a lot of improvements as a crew," Mason said. "The five of us performed the best we could have and finished the race with no regrets."
The Badgers also saw representation from Ian Doctor, who placed fourth in the men's single and sixth in the men's double with Shawn Nesbitt.
"I am especially proud of the four first-year athletes (Arden, Alyssa, Christian, Shawn) from Brock who raced at this regatta as they have made a huge amount of improvement over the past year and have really stepped up to racing at a university level," Mason added. "We are excited to continue training and racing over the summer, and we hope to develop an even stronger team for the fall season."
The Brock men's rowing team is coming off its fourth consecutive Ontario University Athletics (OUA) title in 2024 and will be aiming to make it five straight when the new season begins in 2025.
