Despite sending a smaller complement of wrestlers, the men's wrestling team placed sixth at the annual Brock Open, which took place on Saturday, Jan. 10 at Ian D. Beddis Gymnasium.
Moving up to the 125-kilogram weight class, Yazdan Farokhizad continued his undefeated season by capturing a gold medal for the fifth time this season.
Austin Brabant earned his highest finish of the year so far with a second-place result in the 82kg event.
Up next, the Badgers travel to London, Ont., to compete at the Western Open on Sunday, Jan. 18.

Hosting the Brock Open on Saturday, Jan. 10 at Ian D. Beddis Gymnasium, the women's team displayed a strong showing as they captured second.
At the event, Francesca Lo Greco (53kg) claimed her first gold of the year, while Vanessa Keefe (68kg) notched her second first-place finish of the season. Lo Greco for her efforts was also named the Wrestling Canada Lutte Female Athlete of the Week.
Rounding out the Badgers' medal results were Emma Chartres (50kg) and Cassie Corbett (72kg).
Next on the schedule, the Badgers head to London, Ont., to compete at the Western Open on Sunday, Jan. 18.
