HAMILTON, Ont. – The Brock University women's soccer team (3-9-4 OUA) finished off the 2013 season with a 3-2 loss to the McMaster Marauders (5-6-5 OUA) on Saturday afternoon.
Brock got two goals from
Kara Ross in the first half to take a 2-0 lead into halftime. Ross finishes the season with four goals in her rookie campaign.
The Marauders came out firing in the second half getting a quick goal from Cassidy Davis in the first minute of the half to make the score 2-1 in favour of Brock.
Marisa Bremner got the tying goal in the 70th minute before Anne Yeboah cashed in with one of her own 10 minutes later to give McMaster a 3-2 lead.
The Badgers found themselves playing defense for the majority of the second half as they were outshot 13 to eight in the half and 21 to seven in the 3-2 loss.
Brock's
Jenna Vasiliaskas made 15 saves in the loss finishing her rookie season with 88 saves and an impressive .900 save percentage. Brittany Duffey made four saves to pick up her sixth win in a crucial game for the Marauders.
With three players graduating, a young Badgers team will look to build upon an up and down campaign moving forward into the offseason and the 2014 season.
