TORONTO, Ont. – The Brock University women's hockey team (8-11-1 OUA) ended their season-high six game winning streak on Saturday, falling 2-1 at the hands of the No. 10 ranked University of Toronto Varsity Blues. It was Brock's first loss in OUA competition since November 22nd.

Freshman Jenna Sosnoski (New Dundee, Ont.) allowed two first period goals to the Blues, with Courtney Brind'Amour-McClure and Taylor Day scoring 3:23 apart. Brock managed just one shot on Toronto's netminder Nicole Kesteris in the first.

Toronto's lead kept up through a scoreless 2nd period, with the Varsity Blues outshooting the Badgers 25-9 heading into the final frame.

Senior Jessica Fickel (Fort Erie, Ont.), the reigning Brock women's athlete of the week, scored her 14th of the season to cut the deficit to one goal with 3:05 left in the game. Kesteris stopped the Badgers from that point forward, holding on for the 2-1 Toronto victory.
With the loss keeps Brock outside of the playoff picture, as they trail Waterloo by one point for a post-season position. The Badgers returns to the ice Wednesday night at 7:15 when they host the Guelph Gryphons in an OUA West matchup that kicks off a brief two-game homestand.
