Brock men's lacrosse prepare for CUFLA Championships

2631The Brock University men's lacrosse team will take this week to prepare for the upcoming Canadian University Field Lacrosse Association (CUFLA) Championships which are being held November 7-9 at the Civic Recreation Complex in Oshawa, Ontario.

"We are very excited to compete at the Baggataway Cup this year," said head coach Justin Kennedy. We have prepared well and we believe we have the group to get the job done."

Brock has won a league leading 18 CUFLA titles, but have not hoisted the Baggataway Cup since 2009 when they defeated the McMaster Marauders 12-11. The past two seasons, the Badgers won the CUFLA West regular season title, but did not advance to the Championship final dropping decisions to divisional rivals Guelph and Western.

If the Badgers stick to their game plan, and gets their offense running on all cylinders, led by the trio of Greg Davidson, Kyle Davis and Brandon Slade, they will have a great shot at bringing home the cup in the 30th season of the league.

Brock will also need a strong defensive effort from the backend, led by longpoles John Fitzgerald, Quinton Stuart and Drew Barfoot along with second year goaltender Ryan Jones who has had a great season to date. Other key ingredients, which will play a key role in the success of the Badgers, will be the play of Gage Board, Mark Vradenburg, Brandon Staal, Mark Debrone, Travis Arch and faceoff specialist Nicholas Beaudoin.
