The Brock Badgers men's lacrosse team avenged their early season defeat to the Western Mustangs with a victory in London on Saturday, Oct. 21.
The strong performance, resulting in a 14-9 victory in the Badgers'Â favour, helped the Badgers continued their winning ways.Â
Second-year attack
Avery Steinbach-Parker led the Badgers in scoring with a hat trick in the evening showdown.Â
Fourth-year attack
Jaden Patterson also put together another impactful performance, recording five assists in the triumph.Â
Brock answered an early Western goal, with four of their own from Steinbach-Parker,
Evan Beetles,
Brayden Brown and
Noah Simonelli. The Mustangs were able to respond, but the Badgers still held a 4-3 lead after 15 minutes.Â
Power-play goals from Steinbach-Parker and
James Gowland increased the Badgers lead, seeing them out ahead 6-4 at the break.Â
Western opened the scoring in the second half, but it was all Brock for the rest of the quarter, as Bredan Mair,
Carter McBride,
Brodie Thoms and
Jack Parker all found themselves on the scoresheet.Â
Thoms notched his second of the night to open the fourth quarter, and tallies from McBride, Steinbach-Parker and
Colton Armitage increased Brock's lead late in the contest as they held off a potential rally from Western.
Third-year goalie
Connor Scott recorded the win in the contest.Â
Up next, the Badgers will travel to Waterloo to take on the Laurier Golden Hawks in their final game of the regular season on Sunday, Oct. 20 at 4 p.m. The last time these two teams faced off, the Badgers were victorious by a score of 7-6 in overtime on Saturday, Oct. 12 at Alumni Field.Â
