Brock men's lacrosse team ends season in quarterfinals of Baggataway Cup presented by Belko Construction

It was a tough end to the season for the Brock Badgers men's lacrosse team.

Hosting the 2024 Baggataway Cup presented by Belko Construction, the Badgers looked to secure a victory in front of their home fans on Friday, Nov. 1.

It was the Queen's Gaels who got the win, besting the hosts 10-3 at Kiwanis Field.

Brodie Thoms, a third-year midfielder/attack sparked the Badgers' offence with two goals while Avery Steinbach-Parker was the other goal scorer.

In the first frame, scoring was at a premium as only two shots made it to the back of the net; both coming from the Gaels.

Thoms scored both in the second quarter, but the Gaels put up five to go up 7-2 at the halftime break.

The Gaels continued strong defensively, holding the Badgers to zero goals and scoring two of their own in the third frame.

Steinbach-Parker's goal late in the fourth was too little too late as the Badgers could not muster a comeback.

The shots were quite even with Queen's putting up 28 and Brock having 27.

Connor Scott got the start in the net for the Badgers.

This marks the end of the road for the Badgers as they finished the regular season 7-4 and 0-1 in the playoffs.

Tomorrow on Saturday, Nov. 2, the Baggataway Cup presented by Belko Construction continues with the semifinals as the McGill Redbirds take on the Western Mustangs at 1 p.m. while the Guelph Gryphons face off against the Queen's Gaels at 4 p.m. Both games can be seen on YouTube and LacrosseTV.
