HAMILTON - The Brock University women's soccer team (0-5 OUA) dropped a hard faught 2-1 decision to the McMaster Marauders (2-2 OUA) Wednesday night at Ron Joyce Stadium.
The Marauders got on the board first as Sarah Fettah took down a cross and beat Brock starting keeper
Jenna Vasiliaskas in the 9th minute for her first goal of the season. Taylor Davis would put McMaster up 2-0 in the 25th minute as she found the back of the net for her first of the campaign. MAC outside Brock 9-6 in the opening 45 minutes.
In the second half, McMaster would get a few key scoring opportunities but it was Vasiliaskas standing tall turning aside all six Marauder shots she faced.
Brock would cut the lead to one in the 72nd minute when Marauders keeper Brittany Duffey misjudged her pass, and could only watch as it bounced off Brock striker
Brooke Boekestyn who easily potted the ball into the empty net. Five minutes later, Brock was inches from an equalizer as a set piece pinballed through the McMaster area before a Badger managed a heavy shot that caught the crossbar flush and bounced clear.
Brock returns to action Saturday, September 13th at 1pm when they take on the Waterloo Warriors (0-3 OUA) on the road. Both teams will be in the hunt for their first points of the 2014 season.
