
The Brock University men's lacrosse team opened the 2014 CUFLA season with a 33-3 victory over the Laurier Golden Hawks on the road Sunday afternoon.
Both teams exchanged goals in the opening seven minutes, before the Badgers offense exploded for 19 straight goals leading 20-1 late in the third quarter. In the final quarter, Brock outscored the Golden Hawks 13-0 on route to a school record 33-goal performance.
Brock had 14 different goal scorers in the contest. Leading the way on offense was
Kyle Davis who led all scorers with a game high nine points adding five goals and four assists. He also recorded his 150th point of his Brock career.
Greg Davidson left off right from where he did a year ago adding seven goals while
Brandon Staal (2G, 4A) and
Brandon Slade (2G, 3A) contributed with six and five points respectively.
Mark Debrone and
Brandon Porga both chipped in with three goals and one helper. Nico Beaudoin (2G, 1A),
Mark Vradenburg (2G, 1A),
Gage Board (1G, 2A) all recorded three points a piece. Rounding out the Badgers scoring were
Travis Arch (2G),
John Fitzgerald (1G),
Jake Nyhuus (1G),
Nick Rybka (1G) and Jordan DeMars (1G).
In goal, Brock newcomer
Justin Avbar recorded the victory while Laurier starter Thomas Yee suffered the loss.
The Badgers return home next weekend when they host the McMaster Marauders Saturday, Sept. 13 at 2pm and go up against the defending CUFLA National Champion Guelph Gryphons on Sunday, September 14th at 2pm.Â
