ST. CATHARINES, ON - The Brock University women's basketball (2-2 OUA) dropped a 94-90 thriller in overtime against the No. 1 ranked McMaster Marauders Saturday afternoon at Bob Davis Gymnasium.
After a strong second quarter in which the Badgers scored 27 points, Brock enjoyed a 42-35 lead at the break. However, McMaster outscored Brock 26-15 in the fourth quarter to send the game into overtime, in which the top ranked Marauders would emerge victorious.
McMaster's Danielle Boiago carried the offensive load for her club finishing with 39 points, 6 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals. Also chipping in were Linnea Harper with 21 points, 11 rebounds and 4 assists, and Clare Kenney with 10 points, 5 rebounds and 2 assists.
For the Badgers, the offensive load was shared between
Bridget Atkinson (25 points, 6 assists, 11 rebounds) and
Kira Cornelissen (25 points, 3 assists, 15 rebounds) with both notching double-double's in the loss. Also chipping in for the Badgers was
Baelie Campbell (14 points, 6 rebounds) and
Melissa Tatti (11 points, 5 assists, 3 rebounds, 2 steals).
The Badgers next action is December 2nd when they take on the No. 4 ranked Carleton Ravens on the road. The Badgers next home action comes Jan. 20th against the Queen's Gaels.
