To say the Brock women's soccer team accomplished their mission for the weekend would be a drastic understatement. The Badgers came into the weekend looking to sweep the season series at Algoma and on Sunday they put on a performance before heading home from the Sault.
Â
The Badgers had an incredible 60 shots to Algoma's even. Of those shots, the Brock women's side was able to put 23 on net.
Bethany Kromer, who has been excellent all year on defensive, showed she has the offensive touch as well. Kromer potted two goals for the Badgers and for good measure assisted on goals by
Ashley Harris and
Brooke Boekestyn. Brooke was the one to open the scoring for the Badgers early when she put home an unassisted strike in the 5th minute of the match.
Cierra Bernicky added two goals for the Badgers, spacing them eight minutes apart in the second half.
Â
The Algoma keeper, Alexis Trigiani-Kirkwood did her best to handle the absurd amount of shots on goal. She made 16 saves for the Thunderbirds.
Â
In net for the Badgers was
Marilena Spagnolo who has now put together a string of excellent performances in net. Spagnolo made the save on the only shot she saw on net all game. This is her 5th shutout of the season.
Â
Up next for the Brock women is the Guelph Gryphons who come to town on Friday. This match is an important OUA West clash. five points separate the team and a win at home would be a huge kick starter in the Badgers making a push up the table.
