At the World Rowing Under-23 Championships in Plovdiv, Bulgaria the Canadian women's eight crew captured gold.
The women's eight, who also posted a World Best Time earlier in the heats, won the A Final with open water separating them from the United States and Russia. Battling with the USA through to halfway mark, the American boat lost their rhythm following an issue with a seat.
The Canadian boat which included Brock coxswain
Laura Court along with Morgan Rosts, Antonia Frappell, Madison Mailey, Sydney Payne, Karen Lefsrud, Stephanie Grauer, Julia Vander Hoeven and Caileigh Filmer took advantage and powered through to the finish line with a time of 6:09.89.
"The race was surreal, the result is surreal," said Vander Hoeven. "Everything went to plan. We trusted our coxswain and we really just lived the race."
