The Brock University women's soccer team came up with a big victory Saturday afternoon as they defeated the McMaster Marauders by the score of 1-0 on Alumni Field.

The two teams played an even opening 45 minutes with neither team getting many offensive chances.

The second half was a lot more up tempo but it was both goaltenders in Brock's Marilena Spagnolo and the Marauders Deanna Persico coming up with some clutch saves to keep it deadlocked at 0-0.

In the 51st minute, the Badgers Alex Crawford scored the eventual game winner as she beat Persico for her first goal of the season.

Late in the contest, the Marauders rattled one off the crossbar, as the Badgers held onto the one-goal lead.

With time running down, Spagnolo made two big saves off McMaster's Steph Roberts to secure the shutout. She recorded nine saves for her second shutout of the season.
