The Brock University women's basketball team dropped a 75–44 decision to the McMaster Marauders Saturday afternoon at the Burridge Gymnasium.
The Badgers trailed 15-4 after the opening quarter, as McMaster closed out the final five minutes with an 8-0 run. The Marauders extended their lead to 33-19 at the half and outscored Brock 42-25 in the second half, for their eighth victory of the regular season. With the loss, Brock falls to 4-8 in conference play.
Leading the Badgers was rookie
Kristin Gallant who recorded 14 points and three rebounds while
Baelie Campbell added 11 points and five rebounds.
Courtney Mcpherson was one point shy of the double double adding nine points and 10 boards while
Stephanie Findlay rounded out the Badgers leaders chipping in with five points and a game high 12 rebounds.
McMaster had four players in double digits led by Lexi Spadafora and Leanna Harper who registered 18 and 17 points respectively.
For the game, Brock shot 27.0% (17-for-63) from the field, 0% (0-for-13) from beyond the arc and 55.6% (10-for-18) from the charity stripe. The Marauders went 30-68 (44.1%) from the field, 6-for-21 (28.6%) from long range and 9-for-11 (81.1%) from the free throw line.
The Badgers will be on the road next weekend when they travel north to take on the Algoma Thunderbirds January 12th and 13th.
