Connor Ham and Connor Brown each scored three goals and the Brock Badgers defeated the Guelph Gryphons 13-6 to open the Baggataway Cup men's lacrosse playoffs.
Brock roared out of the gate with a 3-1 lead as Ham whipped in two goals and Brown found the back of the net.
"The veterans were definitely focused right from the first whistle of the game," said head coach Tim Luey. "We had a bunch of players who played their last home game at Brock and they made sure it was a good one. Josh Wood might have played the best I've seen him play. He's playing with more confidence then I've ever seen."
The Badgers piled on during the second quarter by outscoring the Gryphons 6-1.
Brock led 9-2 at halftime.
Goalie Josh Wood faced 21 shots.
Davis Neal finished with two goals and an assist while Grayson Houghton posted a goal and two helpers. Kurtis Woodland and Latrell Harris each whipped in a goal and added an assist. Campbell Parker and Mitch Gustavsen each dented the twine.
Alex Pace dished out two assists and Cree Blakely chipped in an assist.
For Guelph, Alec Simons scored three goals.
Up next, the Badgers will play Nipissing in the Baggatway Cup quarter-finals at the University of Toronto on Friday, Nov. 9 at 4 p.m. If they win, Brock will advance to the semifinals versus Trent on Saturday, Nov. 10 at 1 p.m.
