Brock Badgers weekend preview (Nov. 8-10)

The Brock men's rugby team competes for an OUA medal at home this weekend.

The Badgers host the Trent Excalibur at Brock Alumni Field on Saturday, Nov. 9 at 1 p.m.

"Trent plays a very physical game and they won't give up," said head coach Phil Sullivan. "We expect them to fight every possession for the full 80 minutes."

Brock finished third in the OUA West with a record of 3-3 and defeated the Waterloo Warriors in the quarter-finals before falling to Queen's in the semis.

Trent also finished third in their division, OUA East, but with a record of 2-4. The Excalibur defeated the McMaster Marauders 17-16 in their quarter-finals before losing to Guelph 53-7 in the other semifinal contest.

Men's Lacrosse - The Badgers, who have strung together a perfect season thus far at 11-0, travel to Montreal to compete in the Canadian University Field Lacrosse Association's Baggataway Cup championships from Nov. 8-10. Brock will play the winner of Trent vs. Guelph on Saturday Nov. 8 at Molson Stadium at McGill University. Game time is 11 a.m. The championship match will be played at Sherbrooke Field at Concordia University on Sunday, Nov. 10 at noon.

Women's Hockey - The Badgers (2-3) host Laurentian (2-3) for a Brock School Day Game on Friday, Nov. 8 at Seymour-Hannah Arena for a rare noon start time as elementary school children from the NCDSB and DSBN will be in attendance. The game aims to promote physical literacy and sport with the benefits of physical activity to children in the Niagara region. The women's hockey team also plays the Nipissing Lakers (5-0) at home on Saturday, Nov. 9 at 7:15 p.m.

Women's Basketball - Brock (3-0) remains undefeated to start the season and hosts back-to-back home games. The Badgers face off against another undefeated team, the Guelph Gryphons (2-0), on Friday, Nov. 8 at 6 p.m. and welcomes winless Algoma (0-3) on Saturday, Nov. 9 at 6 p.m.

Men's Basketball - After defeating Ryerson to open the season and suffering a pair of losses, the Badgers (1-2) look to get back on track when they host Guelph (1-1) on Friday, Nov. 8 at 8 p.m. Brock hosts the Algoma Thunderbirds (1-2) on Saturday, Nov. 9 at 8 p.m.

Men's Hockey - The Brock men's hockey team will look to pick up their first win against Guelph this season during an away game on Saturday, Nov. 9 at 7:30 p.m. The Badgers previously lost to the Gryphons in a pair of September pre-season games: the Steel Blade Classic and the Dover Coast Cup.

Women's Volleyball - The No. 7 Brock women's volleyball team (4-0) plays two OUA East opponents this weekend. The Badgers roll into Toronto to play the York Lions (1-2) on Saturday, Nov. 9 at 1 p.m. and North Bay to play the Nipissing Lakers (2-2) on Sunday, Nov. 10 at noon.

Men's Volleyball - The Badgers (2-2) look to rise above .500 when they play the York Lions (1-1) on Saturday, Nov. 9 at 3 p.m. and the OUA East division-leading Nipissing Lakers (3-1) on Sunday, Nov. 10 at 2 p.m.

Wrestling - The Brock Badgers travel to Toronto to compete in the Ryerson Open at Kerr Hall Gym on Sunday, Nov. 10.
