Brock women's basketball senior point guard Melissa Tatti (Ancaster, Ont) took part in the 12th annual OUA Women's Basketball Showcase at York University on May 4.
"It was a great day for Brock basketball. Melissa had many fans in attendance from Brock," said Brock women's basketball head coach Mike Rao. "She played outstanding and I can't wait for pre-season games to start."
The game was part of the Women & Girls in Leadership and Sport Conference, which aims to educate, support and empower women, girls and allies to advance females in sport and leadership roles.
Tatti was one of 20 players representing 14 universities. The teams were coached by longtime head coaches Theresa Burns (McMaster) and Michéle Bélanger (Toronto).
Tatti contributed several key field goals and dished out a collection of assists to help Team Burns defeat Team Belanger win by a score of 81-80.
Team Burns led 20-16 after the first quarter, and 38-33 at halftime.
In the fourth, Nikki Ylagan of Lakehead tied the game up for Team Bélanger, however late-game execution and defensive stops allowed Team Burns to hold on at the buzzer and scrape by with a one-point victory.
