Tate Smith posted a score of 143 through two rounds of play at the OUA West Regionals to qualify for the Championships in Pickering on Oct. 15.

Smith, Morris advance to OUA Golf Championships

Tate Smith and Matt Morris of the Brock men's golf team advanced to the Ontario University Athletics (OUA) Championships.

Smith (143) and Morris (146) finished as the first and fourth, respectively, top individuals not on qualified teams at the OUA West Regionals at Grey Silo Golf Club in Waterloo on Monday, Oct. 4.

The duo will compete at the OUA Championships at Cherry Downs Golf Club in Pickering on Friday, Oct. 15.

"We are proud to have Tate and Matt represent the Badgers at the upcoming OUA Championship. Both have a great work ethic, focusing on the technical and mental side of their game," said head coach Tara Savoie. "Tate is an extremely talented golfer with an ability to hit a wide variety of shots. Matt is a hard worker and hits the golf ball a very long way."

The top four teams advance to the OUA Championships. As a team, the Badgers narrowly missed the cut as they finished fifth with a total score of 594. Guelph was fourth with 577.

Windsor placed first with a score of 565.
