Badgers return to Kingston for RMC Invitational

KINGSTON - Returning to Kingston for a second consecutive competition, the Brock Badgers men's and women's fencing team competed at the RMC Invitational this weekend.

The annual event features schools from across Ontario and Quebec, in addition to a number of military services from around the world including the US Military Academy and Netherlands Military Service. This specific event is conducted with fencers working in groups of three in a relay format up to 45 hits within their respective categories.

The top result for the Badgers came in  the men's epee event as Brock finished third overall thanks to the combined team effort of Nathaniel McDonnell, Nicholas Gutierrez-Sarabia, and Karl Stang. The Badgers fell just short 45-37 in a showdown with the defending OUA champions from the University of Toronto, before defeating Waterloo 45-34 to place third out of 28 total teams.

Brock saw two more Top 10 finishes as the women's epee team of Danielle Martin, Tamara Tait, and Sarah Wilson finished eighth, and the women's foil trio of Sarah Fellman, Emily Bonisteel, and Elena Testana were 10th overall.

Brock next welcomes competition for the Badgers Invitational scheduled for November 19-20.
