TORONTO - Traveling to Toronto for their first event of 2023, the Brock Badgers track and field team saw podium results and new school records set at the Sharon Anderson Meet this past weekend.
Delivering the top results for the Badgers,
Michael Ivanov captured first place in the men's long jump with a leap of 6.48m, while John Pierman took first overall in the men's triple jump with a mark of 12.60m. Ivanov would also place fourth overall in the men's pole vault setting a new Brock program record of 4.40m.
Also placing first, and setting a new Brock Badgers program record, Emily Good delivered a throw of 12.39m in the women's shot put event.
Taking to the second step on the podium, Grace Kugler finished the women's 60m hurdle with a time of 9.05. Adding to her stellar day, Kugler also achieved a new school record time of 7.84 in the women's 60m sprint, pacing eighth overall.
Then rounding out the podium results for Brock,
Jacques Tiessen delivered on a time of 4:01.79 in the men's 1500m placing third overall and also setting a new school record.
Other OUA Championships qualifying results included
Keshawn Igbinosun who posted a 7.38 in the men's 60m sprint and 36.86 in the men's 300m,
Joseph Dick who finished with a time of 4:06.78 in the men's 1500m, and Olobo Okpanachi and Ben Jonah who registered times of 7.33 and 7.36 in the men's 60m sprint.
Brock will continue to prepare for the OUA Championships with a trip to Windsor this coming weekend to compete at the Can-Am Classic from Jan. 13-14
