On Friday, Jan. 12 and Saturday, Jan. 13, Brock's track and field teams made their way to Windsor to compete at the 2024 Can Am Classic.
Michael Ivanov achieved the top result on the men's side. The first-year business major propelled himself to the podium, placing third in the open pole vault with a height of 4.55 metres.
In the running events, Colton Spencer progressed to the 60m open hurdles final and took fifth place (8.37). Teammates Keshawn Igbinosun (35.20 - 300m) and Marco Di Felice (4:24.21 - 1 mile run) also showed impressive results, both producing top-ten finishes.
Ayden Tessier, Tyrell Smikle, Keshawn Igbinosun, and Olobo Okpanachi made up the men's 4x200m relay team. The group clinched fourth place, with a time of 1:32.63, besting the York Lions by just two milliseconds.
On the women's side, sophomore and neuroscience student Megan Jaques secured 10th place in the weight throw event (10.80m). Her teammate Sajini Ganeshamurthi threw a distance of 10.11m in shot put, finishing in thirteenth place.
The runners held their own, with Madelyn Huston achieving the team's best result of 14th in the 1000-meter run (3:03.96).
Up next, the Badgers will travel to Toronto to compete in the Fred Foot Classic on Friday, Jan. 19.
