The Brock Badgers men's and women's swimming team returned to the pool on Sunday, Jan. 22, capturing nine medals at the Ontario University Athletics (OUA) & Club Winter Invitational in Toronto.

Overall, the Badgers finished fifth in the medal standings. The Toronto Varsity Blues captured first with 33 medals, while the McMaster Maruaders earned the second most with 13. The Guelph Gryphons rounded out the top three with 12.
Julien Legault, a fourth-year Kinesiology major, led the way for the Badgers men's results with a gold medal in the 100-metre backstroke (58 seconds and 84 milliseconds) and a third-place finish in the 50m backstroke (26.86).
In the 200m breaststroke, Alexander Walker earned a gold after touching the wall in 2:24.92, while Owen Googe earned a bronze (2:29.77). Googe also placed first in a time of 2:13.04 in the 200m medley, with teammate Lleyton Shuster joining him on the podium with a third-place finish (2:14.57).
Just outside the podium in fourth place was Christopher Ball (200m freestyle - 2:00.40), Evan Karlov (50m butterfly - 26.27) and Michael McCormick (100m backstroke - 59.64).
On the women's side, Tatum O'Connor placed first in both the 100m backstroke (1:04.17) and 50m butterfly (28.43). The third-year Kinesiology major bested her previous career-best time of 28.60 in the 50m butterfly (short course).
Joining Tatum on the podium was Jayden Toews, who came third in the 200m breaststroke in a time of 2:58.31.
Paige Moore (200m breaststroke - 2:59.16) and Sydney Peace (400m freestyle - 4:42.40) narrowly missed out on top three finishes, placing fourth in their respective races.
