On Saturday, Jan. 6, the Brock Badgers men's and women's track and field team competed at the Sharon Anderson Memorial Meet in Toronto.

Leading the way for the Badgers' results was Sarah Saldutto, who impressed with a time of seven seconds and 75 milliseconds in the 60-metre dash in her Brock debut. The Psychology major's time of 7.75 places her well above the Ontario University Athletics (OUA) standard of 8.30 and 33 milliseconds off the qualifying time for the U SPORTS Championships.
"Sarah ran very well this weekend to open up her season," said head coach Spencer House. "She was a big addition to our team coming into the season and this weekend showed why. We are looking forward to seeing what she can do the rest of the way as the season moves along."
Keshawn Igbinosun earned third in the 300m dash in 36.17, while Christian Lightenberg took home fourth in the 1000m (2:33.98). Garrett Wager (2:38.34 - 1000m) and Marco Di Felice (4:05.77 - 1500m) placed sixth in their respective races.
In the three-person men's 60m hurdles field, Colton Spencer placed first (8.65).
While in the jumps, Michael Ivanov led Brock's results with a fourth-place finish in the men's long jump (6.20m), and Sajini Ganeshamurthi jumped 4.93m to come fifth in the women's long jump.
Brielle Greenslade threw 10.30m in the women's shot put to earn a fourth-place result.
The men's 4x200m relay team composed of Ayden Tessier, Bolu Olatifede, Mitch McGarr and Olobo Okpanachi placed fourth in a time of 1:36.33.
Up next, the Badgers travel to Windsor to compete at the Windsor Can Am Classic on Saturday, Jan. 12 and Sunday, Jan. 13.
