The Brock Badgers remain on top of the Ontario wrestling landscape.
On Saturday, Feb. 8, the Brock Badgers women's wrestling team won their 23rd overall and tenth consecutive Ontario University Athletics (OUA) title at the George Leach Centre in Sault Ste. Marie, ON.
"There's a lot on the line and it's really important for our athletes. It means a lot to them," said head coach Marty Calder. "There are still things to improve on as we get ready to host the national championships. Overall, the day was really exciting for us and I'm happy for the team."
Medalling in all 10 weight categories, the Badgers finished on top of the standings with 80 points which was 14 away of the second-place finishing Western Mustangs (66). The McMaster Marauders placed third with 51 points.
With the men's team also winning, the Badgers swept the provincial championships for the ninth consecutive year.
Both Vanessa Keefe and Brianna Fraser won provincial gold medals for the third time in their prestigious university careers.
Keefe was victorious in the 68-kilogram event, besting Heaven-Lee Emond of the Carleton Ravens in the final by fall at 0:56 while Fraser also went undefeated, claiming gold in the 83-kilogram weight class with a win by fall at 0:39 over Vanessa Fonrose of the McMaster Marauders.
For the second time in her career, Bronwyn MacGregor is a provincial champion, doing so this time around with a 10-0 technical fall win over Prabhleen Randhawa of the York Lions in the final of the 65kg event.
After finishing second last year in the 59kg division, Michaela Rankin earned her first OUA gold medal in 2025, defeating Western's Jonelle Clarke by 11-6 decision in the 62kg weight class.
Samantha Romero (50kg) and Francesca Lo Greco (53kg) both earned silver medals to add their growing trophy cases.
Three Badgers earned bronze medals in their provincial championship debuts.
Rachel Hall, a fourth-year wrestler, rebounded from a loss to Martha Laplante-Brady of the Queen's Gaels to capture a bronze medal with a win by fall at 2:12 over Myla Lawson (Lakehead Thunderwolves).
First-year athletes Olivia Mathezer (56kg) and Jusleen Sidhu (59kg) both won their respective bronze medal matches by fall.
Cassie Corbett rounded out the Badgers' medal results with a third-place finish in the 76kg event after a win by fall at just 1:01 over Haley Florell of the Lakehead Thunderwolves.
