Sydney Hood made an instant impact for the Brock women's hockey team this past season.
The first-year defender earned an All-Rookie Team selection as Ontario University Athletics (OUA) announced their award winners and all-stars on Wednesday, March 12.
"Sydney had an outstanding first season for us," said head coach Margot Page. "Her hard work and dedication, both in practices and games, highlight her elite status as a student-athlete. This recognition is well-deserved, and we're excited to see her continued growth and success at Brock."
Hood, an Erin, ON product, played in all 26 games for the Badgers in her debut season, notching seven goals and six assists for 13 total points, with her goals and points totals placing her third on the team.
Among all rookie defenders in the OUA, Hood ranked first in goals and points, and she was tied for first overall in goals and finished third in points among all OUA rookie skaters. Additionally, she placed seventh in scoring among all defenders in the province.
In a glimpse of things to come, Hood delivered a sparkling first game for the Badgers, scoring a goal and recording an assist in the season opener against Carleton on Oct. 11, 2024.
The Teacher Education major also stepped up into a big role on the power play, finishing tied for first on the team with Madison Cronkwright with four goals with the person advantage.
