Sydney Hood has been recognized as one of the country's best first-year players.
Coming off a strong first campaign for the Badgers, Hood was selected to the U SPORTS All-Rookie Team in an announcement made on Wednesday, March 19 at the awards banquet at the U SPORTS Women's Hockey Championship.
"This is a fantastic achievement for Sydney," said head coach Margot Page. "Being named to the U SPORTS All-Rookie Team is a testament to all her hard work and skill on the ice. It's clear that her dedication is paying off, and this recognition is just the start of what will be an incredible journey."
Appearing in all 26 regular seasons, Hood delivered an impressive first season for the Badgers as she recorded seven goals and six assists for 13 points. She placed third on the team in both the goals and points categories.
The Erin, ON native was one of the top rookie defenders in Ontario University Athletics (OUA), finishing first in goals and points while tying for first overall in goals and placing third in points among all rookie skaters in the conference.
Her 13 points also put her seventh among all defenders in the OUA. For her efforts during the regular season, Hood was also named to the OUA All-Rookie Team a week ago on Wednesday, March 12.
