Hali Lawrence (Okotoks, Alta.) of the women's hockey team and
Guerin Jennings (Orangeville, Ont.) of the men's lacrosse team have been named the Brock University Athletes of the Week for the period ending Sunday, Oct. 25.
Stepping in between the pipes for a double-header against the Nipissing Lakers and Queen's Gaels, Lawrence delivered 59 saves over the weekend, highlighted by a 39-stop performance against the Gaels on Saturday, Oct. 24. The fourth-year Critical Criminology major's efforts helped keep Brock competitive as she faced a steady barrage of shots, helping the Badgers secure a point by forcing overtime against Nipissing. Lawrence remained composed over both matches, stepping in when called upon to stifle the opposition's attack and keep the Badgers within reach.
Jennings, a first-year Business Communication major, notched 11 points over an undefeated weekend, as the Badgers recorded wins over the Nipissing Lakers and the Laurier Golden Hawks. Starting off the weekend against the Lakers on Friday, Oct. 23., Jennings fired home three goals to go along with two assists, before outdoing himself with three goals and three helpers in the team's regular season home finale against Laurier on Sunday, Oct. 25. Making his presence felt in both victories, Jennings played a key role in helping the Badgers secure their fifth and sixth wins in their last seven games.
