Tiago Pereira (Woodbridge, Ont.) of the men's soccer team and Marisa Freeman (Ingersoll, Ont.) of the women's rugby team have been named the Brock University Athletes of the Week for the period ending Sunday, Sept. 27.

Making an impact at both ends of the pitch, Pereira helped lead the Badgers to a six-point weekend, collecting three goals in Brock's two weekend victories. On Friday, Sept. 25, the fifth-year defender opened the scoring for the Badgers while also keeping a clean sheet in a 3-0 over the Algoma Thunderbirds. Pereira followed suit on Sunday, Sept. 27, netting a brace that included a late winner that secured a dramatic victory against the Guelph Gryphons. The Sport Management major's leadership both offensively and defensively inspired the Badgers undefeated weekend.

Freeman, a fifth-year Teacher Education major, was vital in the Badgers commanding 63-3 win over the Waterloo Warriors on Saturday, Sept. 26, recording one try throughout the contest. The veteran provided a consistent spark for the Badgers with her physicality and work rate, helping Brock maintain their intensity on both sides of the ball to limit the Warriors to three points. Freeman's efforts helped the Badgers secure their second consecutive victory as they continue to build momentum throughout the remainder of the regular season.
