Vargas, a first-year Film Studies student, made an impact in his first ever appearance at the U SPORTS Men’s Wrestling National Championship claiming gold in his 68kg weight class helping Brock capture their eighth consecutive national banner. Vargas went undefeated during Friday round-robin action recording three technical fall wins over Toronto (10-0 TF), Calgary (10-0 TF), and Concordia (11-0 TF), never conceding a single point in the trio of matches. Facing off against Saskatchewan in the 68kg final, Vargas maintained his clean sheet with another 10-0 technical fall win to earn gold in his first U SPORTS national championship appearance.
