Travelling to Winnipeg for the 2026 U SPORTS Championships, Michael Ivanov earned his second consecutive gold medal in the men's pole vault event on Saturday, March 7. The Business major cleared his first attempt of 4.60-metres, before clearing 4.70m on his next vault. After faulting his first attempt of 4.80m, Ivanov cleared this mark on his second try. With the competition winding down to its last remaining competitors, the York Lions' Liam West was not able to clear the 4.90m height on his first attempt. This granted Ivanov the opportunity to secure the gold medal as he vaulted past the 4.90m mark on his first try.
