The Brock Badgers women's soccer team (0-1-3 OUA) takes on the Windsor Lancers (2-2-0 OUA) and the CIS 10th ranked Guelph Gryphons (4-0-0 OUA) this upcoming Saturday and Sunday at Brock University.
MOVIN' ON UP
After a season to forget in 2012, the Brock women's soccer team has proven early on that they can keep up with the other teams in the OUA. The Badgers will need to find their winning way to continue climbing the standings. They trail the fourth place Lancers by three points and the first place Gryphons by nine.
SHE SHOOTS…
Badgers rookie
Kelly Miller has been stellar offensively early in her OUA career with seven shots on goal in four games played. Miller sits in a tie for 7th with four others and trails OUA leader from Laurier, Emily Brown, by 5 shots. It is only a matter of time before Miller finds the twine to collect her first OUA goal.
VASILIASKAS NAMED KEMP FINANCIAL BROCK FEMALE ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
Brock women's soccer freshman goalkeeper
Jenna Vasiliaskas was named the Brock Female Athletes of the Week presented by Kemp Financial for the week ending September 8th. Vasiliaskas helped lead the Brock women's soccer team to their third tie in their first four games. In the Badgers 1-1 draw against the McMaster Marauders, Vasiliaskas recorded 10 saves, including two key breakaway saves. In two starts this season, she has posted a 0.50 GAA with 18 saves and a .947 save percentage.
HOME SWEET HOME
The Badgers managed a 1-1 draw with McMaster in their home opener and will hope to build from that as they play six of their next seven games at Brock University. With eight home games all season, this is the time to come and show your support for the Brock women's soccer team.
WINDSOR PLAYER'S TO WATCH
The Lancers have been led early on by solid goaltending from keeper Tara Bernard-Rae. Bernard-Rae has two shutout victories and has made 28 saves in four games this season.
GUELPH PLAYER'S TO WATCH
The Gryphons have a trio of players to key on with Erica Bain leading the OUA in goals with four, while Courtney Whiteside is just one behind with three. In goal, Alexandra King has four wins, three shutouts and 26 saves.
