SUDBURY, Ont. - The Brock University men's lacrosse team (1-0 CUFLA) opened the 2013 regular season with a 13-10 road victory over the Laurentian Voyageurs Saturday afternoon.
Brock opened the game with two straight goals before Laurentian answered back with two power play markers tying it 2-2. The Badgers would register five of the next six goals leading 7-3 at the half.
The Voyageurs opened the third quarter with four straight tying the game 7-7. The Badgers would answer right back with three of their own to take a 10-7 lead. Brock's offense continued to roll adding three of the next four goals to go up by four 12-8 midway through the fourth quarter. Brock would add an insurance marker late en route to the 13-10 victory.
Leading the Badgers offense was
Greg Davidson (Scarborough, Ont.) who had an eight-point performance registering five goals and three assists.
Kyle Davis (Caledon East, Ont.) contributed with three goals and three assists while newcomer
Brandon Slade (Orangeville, Ont.) added four goals and one helper in his Badgers regular season debut. Rounding out the Brock offense was
Nick Rybka (Bolton, Ont.) who added one goal and one assist.
In goal, Brock senior starter
Ian Duffy (Ajax, Ont.) registered 12 saves for the victory.
The Badgers return to action Sunday at 12 noon against Laurentian to close out the northern road trip.
